The finalists have been announced at this year’s 2007 UK Festival Awards. Categories span from the obvious ones like best festival and best lineup, to the amusing ones like best loos. But none for best T-shirts or merchandise. Voting ends at the end of the month.

The West End’s underground club, The End, celebrated the return of Layo and Bushwacka! this past weekend with an album launch party.

Missed all the action this time but I did catch their boat party in NY in the summer. I’m sure the dancefloor was thronged once again with tee-wearing hipsters like in the clip below. Love the Jesus Was Black tee.

Open air Sunday groovy Sundays came to an end yesterday with the last Secretsundaze of the season at the rooftop of Canvas, the derelict clubbing depot that’s shutting down for the King’s Cross regeneration.

The place was heaving and the music was pumping heavy beats of high tech soul when I arrived. Unfortunately, 6pm was a tad late to join a packed afternoon party. I went as far as midway through the queue, which was crawling at a one-in and one-out pace, before I decided to head home. But at least I got my dosage of killer tracks, including a groovy rendition of House of God.

WHP 2007 kicks off this weekend below Piccadilly Station in Manchester. The opener featuring Layo & Bushwacka, Felix Da Housecat and AVH is already sold out. Fortunately major acts keep rolling in for the next 3 months: John Digweed, Jeff Mills, Steve Lawler, David Guetta, and the list goes on. My weekends are filling up, but looks like I’m good for the weekend of 19 Oct.

With the London Fashion Week in full gear, what better time to mention this wicked Burberry vs London Underground map mashup by emvee. Plaid has never looked any cooler (via Going Underground).

Hoxton’s newest arrival, Goodhood opened last night. Cool hunters and indie scenesters flocked the launch party of this hip concept store. Very few goods were on display, a wise decision since they were giving out free booze, but it looks really promising.

For the hard core partier, last Sunday would’ve been perfect to pull a 24-hour-plus clubbing marathon:

12am - 5am: Detroit techno with Jeff Mills at The End
5am - 12pm: Jaded “after-party” with Raymundo Rodriguez
12pm - 8pm: Brick Lane Music Festival at Cafe 1001 and 93 Feet East
8pm - 10pm: Beck’s Fusions at Trafalgar Square ft. Chemical Brothers
10pm - 6am: Miss Kittin at Club Aquarium

If only we could take Mondays off…
